THE CHALLENGE: Installing VIV suppression fairings on existing risers in subsea locations using ROV's.

THE SOLUTION: FASTORQ designed and manufactured Zip Nut latches to be incorporated into the fairing flanges. Male (A) on one side and female (B) on the other side.

INSTALLATION: The ROV with tooling mounted on the front transports the fairing with latches to the subsea location. The ROV places the fairing around the riser and closes it using hydraulic tooling.

The male element is pushed into engagement with the female to secure the fairing. No rotation of the Zip Nut latch elements is required. The fairing latches cannot open due to vibration or rotation.

EXPERIENCE: FASTORQ Zip Nut latches have been provided for riser fairings on the following locations in the Gulf of Mexico: PRINCESS, AUGER, URSA, RAM POWELL AND MACARONI.
